During her visit, Sheikha Jawaher toured the hospital's facilities and met with patients affected by heart issues post-cancer treatment. She also engaged with the medical and research teams, praising their contributions to tackling significant health challenges. "Today, science has provided us with unprecedented tools, offering new avenues of hope and tangible progress in public health," she stated.

The programme aims to establish networks with research institutions worldwide to improve methodologies and results credibility. It will form a specialised clinical research group to share findings widely and develop AI algorithms for diagnosing and preventing cardiotoxicity. Additionally, it plans to create the UK's first biobank for disease information storage.

Sheikha Jawaher emphasised the importance of using scientific advancements to alleviate suffering from serious health conditions. She highlighted that collaborative efforts should prioritise humanity's well-being. The Cardio-Oncology Centre will serve as a vital platform for researchers, healthcare providers, and families affected by these diseases.

Royal Brompton Hospital is renowned for its expertise in heart and lung diseases. It is one of Europe's largest centres focusing on lung disease research heavily impacted by cancer treatments. The hospital's management welcomed Sheikha Jawaher during her visit, where she received updates on the programme's progress and initial research findings.

Training and Development Initiatives

The programme introduces training programmes for doctors and specialists to enhance their skills in managing cardiotoxicity in cancer patients. It also aims to develop applications supporting its goals while creating a global patient registry network in collaboration with international centres.

Sheikha Jawaher expressed pride in positioning Sharjah and the UAE as supporters of this crucial medical research initiative. "I am proud today as we position the name of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates in support of launching the most important medical research programme for cardiovascular health in cancer patients," she said.

By addressing one of the most pressing challenges in cancer treatment, this programme represents a critical advancement in global health outcomes. It ensures that efforts against cancer do not compromise long-term cardiovascular health, ultimately benefiting millions worldwide through innovative solutions emerging from dedicated researchers' work.

The Cardio-Oncology Centre of Excellence is set to become an essential resource for those affected by life-threatening diseases and their far-reaching consequences. Its establishment signifies a commitment to improving public health through scientific discovery and technological advancement while fostering international cooperation for better healthcare solutions globally.
