Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi Affirms Commitment To Advancing Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi’s Humanitarian Vision For Children

H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Humanitarian Foundation (KSQF), emphasised the enduring humanitarian vision of the late Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi. His mission was to shield children globally from disasters and exploitation, a mission that the Foundation continues to pursue with dedication.

During a visit to KSQF's headquarters in Sharjah, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher reviewed ongoing projects and initiatives that align with the Foundation's core values. She stated: "It is often said that a person’s name reflects their destiny, and Khalid’s legacy, God willing, will remain echoing through his impact, his vision, and the dream he brought to life; a dream that continues to grow."

The KSQF is actively building an international network to tackle urgent childhood threats. Current partners include Plan International and Save the Children International. The Foundation is also part of The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action. These collaborations aim to create robust systems protecting children from exploitation and trafficking.

Sheikha Jawaher highlighted that over a year since its launch, KSQF's impact is evident through tangible results and financial contributions. She expressed optimism about fostering stronger partnerships with local and global organisations to enhance child protection laws and resources.

The International Labour Organisation and UNICEF report that 138 million children under 18 are involved in work violating international standards, with 54 million in hazardous labour. Additionally, UN data reveals nearly 38% of human trafficking victims are children. Around 650 million girls and women have faced forced marriage globally.

H.H. Sheikha Jawaher praised KSQF's teamwork since its establishment in Sharjah in 2024 as a model for sustainable development focused on protecting children worldwide from exploitation, forced labour, and trafficking.

Strategic Framework for Lasting Change

The Foundation's strategic framework is based on three pillars: safeguarding, advocacy, and capacity building. This approach aims to create resilient protection ecosystems enhancing child welfare systems globally. Through these efforts, KSQF seeks lasting change for at-risk children.

KSQF's first international initiatives include expanding child protection services in Zanzibar with Save the Children International and implementing the Children Guardians project in Mexico with Plan International. These initiatives safeguard over 30,000 children from violence and exploitation.

Progress Review and Future Directions

During her visit, H.H. met with Board of Trustees members including Erum Mazher Alvie, Abdullah Al Huraimel, Mariam Al Hammadi, Lujan Mourad, Hamda Al Muhrizi, and others. They assessed project progress since inception, focusing on refining strategies for future initiatives.

The discussions emphasised preventive awareness initiatives' role in community resilience against harmful practices. H.H. expressed gratitude to all partners supporting KSQF's mission while stressing public- and private-sector collaboration for humanitarian goals.

Thanks to support from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, KSQF continues strengthening its position globally while advancing its humanitarian vision through partnerships rooted in human values.
