Embassy Of Japan In Saudi Arabia Celebrates Iftar With Saudi Graduates

The Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently hosted an Iftar banquet, celebrating the enduring ties fostered by Saudi graduates from Japanese universities and academic institutions. At this significant gathering, Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom, Fumio Iwai, took the opportunity to acknowledge the pivotal role these graduates play in strengthening the bonds of friendship between Japan and Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Iwai highlighted the mutual visits by high-level officials from both nations as a key factor in deepening their relationship. Notably, the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to Saudi Arabia last July was mentioned as a testament to the growing cooperation and friendship between the two countries. The ambassador's speech also shed light on the increasing interest of Japanese private sector entities in expanding their business operations within the Kingdom. This interest is evidenced by the signing of 40 memorandums of understanding across various sectors and the establishment of seven Japanese company offices in Saudi Arabia over the past year.

In terms of tourism, Ambassador Iwai shared exciting developments regarding visa facilitation for Saudi citizens and residents. The Japanese government has initiated the issuance of electronic tourist visas, along with granting multiple-entry visas to Saudi passport holders who meet specific criteria. These measures are anticipated to boost the number of Saudi visitors to Japan significantly.

The ambassador also touched upon recent cultural initiatives aimed at enhancing bilateral cultural exchange. He referenced a Japanese festival held in November, which saw participation from over 3,000 individuals, as an example of successful cultural engagement between Japan and Saudi Arabia.

These efforts collectively underscore a mutual commitment to fostering a deeper understanding and cooperation between Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Through educational exchanges, business collaborations, eased travel restrictions, and cultural events, both nations continue to build upon their longstanding friendship.
