Designed to be a hub of cultural and economic exchange, the JCC is set to be a beacon of creativity, dialogue, and sustainability between nations.

Embedded within the expansive Multiverse Project by AAHG, the Japan Culture Center is poised to become the world's most significant and comprehensive venue for Japanese culture outside of Japan.

This cultural sanctuary, designed by the esteemed architect Kengo Kuma, is envisioned as a village where art, learning, and life converge. With Kuma-san's signature approach to natural materials and ecological design, the center aims to offer an immersive experience where culture is lived and breathed, rather than merely displayed.

"The Japan Culture Center will serve as a living platform for cultural and economic exchange, ensuring that traditions are not only honored, but sustained and reimagined for generations to come. It stands as a true expression of the values of respect, openness, and collaboration that define the partnership between our two nations," stated H.E. Shehab Ahmed Al Fahim, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

This statement underscores the shared vision of the UAE and Japan for promoting cultural diplomacy and fostering exchanges that celebrate heritage and facilitate dialogue.

The JCC will be a hub for artistic and economic activity, offering a space for Japan's media companies, artisans, and small enterprises to showcase their talents and traditions to the world.

This initiative targets to nurture vocational training, residencies, and creative collaborations, thereby enhancing cross-border partnerships across the Middle East, Africa, and West Asia. From traditional arts like tea ceremonies and calligraphy to modern innovations in robotics and design, the center’s multidisciplinary programming encourages active engagement and cultural exchange among visitors.

"I have always been fascinated by the beauty and depth of Japanese culture — from its timeless traditions to its bold modern creativity," remarked Mohammed Khammas, Group CEO of Al Ahli Holding Group.

He further highlighted the collaborative nature of the project, crediting architects like Kengo Kuma and Paul Tange, along with curators Fumio Nanjo and Toshio Shimizu for transforming the collective vision into reality.

Khammas emphasized that the Japan Culture Center symbolizes the enduring nature of culture, artistry, and friendship across generations.

The Multiverse Project's centerpiece, the Japan Culture Center, comprises several key elements that together reflect the UAE's philosophy of promoting cultural continuity and cooperation.

Among these elements are the Artist Building, designed by Paul Tange, offering over a thousand residences for artists to collaborate and innovate.

The Curatorial Program, led by Fumio Nanjo and Toshio Shimizu, bridges modern and traditional Japanese culture, showcasing a harmonious blend of evolving creativity and timeless craftsmanship.

As the UAE's parting gift to Japan at the close of Expo 2025 Osaka, the Japan Culture Center symbolizes a shared journey of respect, understanding, and creativity.

This initiative not only honors the cultural heritage of Japan but also envisions a future where these traditions are preserved, celebrated, and evolved.

Through this landmark destination, the UAE reaffirms its belief in the power of cultural diplomacy and the role of art and culture in bringing nations together for the betterment of humanity.
