Jamaican Foreign Minister Praises Saudi Arabia's Humanitarian Initiative For Conjoined Twins Azaria And Azora
Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, Jamaica's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, commended Saudi Arabia for its initiative to bring conjoined twins Azaria and Azora Elson to Riyadh. The purpose of their transfer is to assess the possibility of a separation surgery. She described this initiative as one of the most noble humanitarian efforts Jamaica has ever received.
The twins were transported to Saudi Arabia on a medical evacuation aircraft provided by the Ministry of Defense. This event was attended by Saudi non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Jamaica, Waleed Alhamoudi, along with a team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).

Minister Smith highlighted that the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, which is part of KSrelief, exemplifies humanitarian work and medical excellence. This program has been instrumental in fostering cooperation and friendly relations between different nations. It has been providing specialized medical care to children from low-income families worldwide for over three decades.
The minister emphasized the hope and compassion that this program brings to numerous families globally. She expressed her gratitude towards Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their support in this humanitarian act.
In her statement, Minister Smith conveyed deep appreciation for the efforts made by Saudi Arabia. She acknowledged the role of KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah in leading the medical team. "The efforts of the medical and surgical team of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program will be crowned with success," she expressed, hoping for a positive outcome for the twins.
The minister concluded by noting that this initiative embodies values of brotherhood and international solidarity. She hopes it will mark a significant turning point in Azaria and Azora's lives, reflecting the highest standards of global humanitarian collaboration.
