Ithra Achieves Diamond Mostadam Certification For Building Sustainability In Saudi Arabia
The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, known as Ithra, has achieved a significant milestone by securing the Mostadam Sustainability Assessment Program Diamond Certification. This certification is a crucial benchmark for assessing environmental impacts and promoting sustainability in projects. Ithra is the first in Saudi Arabia to earn this recognition under the Operations and Existing Buildings category (Mostadam O+E).
Ithra's dedication to sustainability is evident through its initiatives in energy and water efficiency, waste management improvements, and sustainable transportation solutions. The centre also focuses on enhancing user health and comfort while educating the community about sustainable practices. These efforts align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Abdullah Al Buqami, Ithra's Technical Services Manager, expressed pride in this achievement: "This recognition reflects our commitment to making Ithra a model of sustainability. We believe that innovation in design and environmental practices can truly shape the future. Ithra being the only project receiving a certification in this category in Saudi Arabia is a major milestone in our sustainability journey, reinforcing our dedication to leading by example and inspiring others to uphold and elevate sustainability standards across the Kingdom."
The Mostadam initiative, launched by the Sustainable Building Program under the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, provides a comprehensive rating system addressing sustainability challenges in buildings throughout Saudi Arabia. It focuses on key areas like energy, water, health, and quality of life, tailored specifically to the country's climate and environmental needs.
This framework is deeply integrated into Saudi Arabia's development plans, aiming to enhance living standards while reducing environmental footprints. By aligning with these objectives, Mostadam supports projects like Ithra in achieving their sustainability goals.
Ithra's achievement not only highlights its commitment to eco-friendly practices but also sets a precedent for other projects within the Kingdom. As it continues its journey towards greater sustainability, Ithra serves as an inspiration for others to follow suit.
