Ithra To Host Cross-Cultural Concert Featuring China National Centre For The Performing Arts Chorus

The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, known as Ithra, is set to host the China National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Chorus. This event, titled "World Famous Songs," marks the chorus's first performance in Saudi Arabia. It is part of the "Ithra Winter" initiative within Khobar Season. The concert will be led by Jiao Miao, the Chorus Managing Director and Resident Conductor, with NCPA Vice President Wang Cheng in attendance.

The NCPA Chorus was established in 2009 and serves as the resident ensemble of Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts. They have performed at significant events like the G20 Summit in Hangzhou and the Beijing Winter Olympics. The concert aligns with the Saudi-China Cultural Year 2025, promoting cultural dialogue through artistic collaboration and creative exchange.

Ithra Hosts Chinese Chorus Concert

The partnership between Ithra and the National Centre for the Performing Arts highlights a growing cultural exchange. Programs Manager at Ithra, Noura AlZamil, stated, "Our collaboration with the National Centre for the Performing Arts is built on mutual respect and a shared belief in culture’s ability to connect and inspire." She also noted that hosting this chorus is "a moment of exchange that deepens understanding through the beauty of performance."

Public Access to International Choral Works

This concert is accessible to everyone via Ithra’s ticketing platform. The program will showcase international choral pieces. For the NCPA Chorus, performing at Ithra signifies both an artistic achievement and a symbolic gesture. It reflects a broader cultural dialogue fostered by Ithra’s ongoing collaborations with Chinese institutions.

Future Collaborations

Ithra continues to engage in cultural exchanges with China through various initiatives. These include Saudi Film Nights in Beijing 2024, participation in the Beijing International Book Fair 2024, and hosting the Bridge to the Chinese Language workshop in 2025. These efforts demonstrate a sustained commitment to fostering cultural dialogue between Saudi Arabia and China.

The concert not only celebrates music but also strengthens ties between Saudi Arabia and China through shared cultural experiences.
