ITC Signs Strategic Agreements To Enhance Smart And Autonomous Mobility In Abu Dhabi During 2025 Week
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has entered into several strategic agreements with both local and international partners during DRIFTx 2025. This event was part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week 2025, organised by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC). These collaborations aim to develop a smart mobility network that aligns with Abu Dhabi's future vision.
These agreements highlight ITC's dedication to integrating various transport modes and adopting modern technologies. The focus is on sustainability and enhancing quality of life, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's leadership in smart mobility through active partnerships. This environment encourages investment and innovation in autonomous systems.
Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of ITC, stated: "These agreements underscore ITC’s pivotal role in leading the transition towards smart and sustainable mobility in Abu Dhabi and in developing capabilities in autonomous driving and self-operated logistics across air, land, and sea." The aim is to adopt innovative solutions for safety and efficiency.
ITC has partnered with the Cyber Security Council to enhance cybersecurity collaboration within ICT-related areas. This partnership aims to create a secure digital environment supporting digital transformation through expertise exchange, threat intelligence sharing, incident response coordination, technical exercises, and workshops.
A cooperation agreement was signed between ITC, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, and Tensor Auto Inc., a Silicon Valley company. This agreement facilitates the commercial operation of Tensor’s autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi. It provides regulatory support for operating these vehicles safely in real-world environments.
Additionally, ITC has collaborated with SkyDrive from Japan to advance air mobility applications using electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The focus is on technical studies for the "SD-05" aircraft, assessing infrastructure readiness, developing vertiports, and smart charging stations.
Innovative Mobility Solutions
ITC also signed an agreement with Glydways to explore automated transit networks (ATN) for sustainable mobility solutions. This collaboration aims to test innovations that offer cost-effective mass transit systems compared to traditional modes while improving connectivity between urban areas.
The partnership includes data sharing, system development for autonomous transport technologies, regulatory standards creation, and a pilot project in Abu Dhabi to evaluate this technology's feasibility.
Marine Transport Advancements
In maritime transport, ITC joined forces with Blue Gulf Group to accelerate autonomous marine vessel applications. This agreement establishes a framework for testing autonomous marine vehicles through field trials while ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
The collaboration involves feasibility studies and technical analyses to evaluate operational applications of autonomous systems within maritime transport.
Pioneering Smart Mobility
Benteler Mobility from Germany partnered with ITC to launch a pilot project for mini robo buses in Abu Dhabi. The agreement includes analytical studies of mobility needs, designing an integrated framework for smart buses operation, and conducting field trials to ensure compliance with ITC’s standards.
This initiative supports developing a safe transport system that facilitates the transition towards smart mobility solutions across the Emirate.
Enhancing Connectivity Infrastructure
A cooperation agreement was also signed with global technology group e& to enhance autonomous driving technologies through advanced connectivity solutions like 5G networks. The agreement covers knowledge exchange on smart city projects and providing Wi-Fi services on board autonomous vehicles across Abu Dhabi.
{INSTAGRAM_1}The collaboration extends to using AI-powered drones for real-time traffic monitoring. These drones transmit live data directly to the Traffic Management Centre for improved traffic management efficiency by identifying congestion points promptly.
Supporting Logistics Sector Transformation
To support digital transformation in logistics, ITC partnered with Sinaha Technology. This UAE-based company specialises in smart industrial solutions for logistics services. The agreement focuses on enhancing autonomous technologies application in freight logistics using self-driving trucks and heavy-lift drones for cargo delivery.
This partnership includes joint working groups monitoring project implementation stages aimed at improving logistics efficiency while reducing carbon emissions across operations within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
