Italian Fashion Excellence Takes Centre Stage At Dubai Fashion Week

Italian fashion will shine at the upcoming Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) with the debut of "La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition". This event, part of the Spring/Summer 2025 edition of DFW, is co-founded by Dubai Design District (d3) and the Arab Fashion Council. It will run from 1st to 7th September.

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA), in collaboration with DFW, is organising this exhibition. It will be open to all from 1st to 3rd September at d3, part of TECOM Group PJSC. The exhibition will feature 25 prestigious Italian brands showcasing clothing, footwear, leather goods, and eyewear. These brands have been selected by ITA to represent top-tier Italian craftsmanship and quality.

Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, highlighted Italy's global influence in fashion. He stated, "Italy is synonymous with style and beauty, passion for quality lifestyle, culture, art, fashion, food, and wellbeing. Italy is the second-largest exporter of apparel in the world." He also noted that Italy’s fashion exports to the UAE reached €838 million in 2023.

The collaboration between ITA and DFW underscores strong cultural and economic ties between Italy and the UAE. By promoting Italian brands during the Spring/Summer 2025 edition, DFW reinforces Dubai’s status as a global fashion hub. This partnership aims to foster strategic alliances and market expansion.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3), commented on the mutual appreciation between the UAE and Italy for culture and heritage. She said that this collaboration strengthens economic growth through fashion. "La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition will reinforce DFW as a gateway to new business opportunities," she added.

Significance of Digital Exports

Fashion represents a significant sector in digital exports for Italy. About 66 percent of online exports of Made in Italy consumer goods come from this sector. The new initiative 'La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition' aims to showcase the best of Italian fashion to key stakeholders.

Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, expressed excitement about launching the Italian Fashion Showcase at DFW for the first time. "We have been working hard to deliver this first edition as a key milestone," he said. He noted that Italian exports of fashion products reached €378 million by April 2024.

This exhibition joins a packed calendar of designer runway shows and exclusive citywide events for DFW. Recently announced as Guest of Honour is legendary Italian luxury label Roberto Cavalli.

The event highlights the growing significance of Italian fashion in the UAE market. It provides an opportunity for fashion enthusiasts to experience fine Italian fashion firsthand.

The initiative aims not only to promote Italian brands but also to strengthen economic ties between Italy and the UAE through cultural exchange.
