Italian Companies Strengthen Their Presence In The UAE Construction Market, Says Ambassador Lorenzo Fanara
Italian companies have established a significant presence in the UAE, particularly in construction materials like marble and natural stones. These materials are highly valued, and Italian construction equipment is known for its reliability and advancement. Lorenzo Fanara, Italy's Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted this during the Big 5 Global 2025 event in Dubai, emphasising the strong partnership between Italy and the UAE in construction.
The Italian Embassy recently released a book titled "The Italian Legacy in the United Arab Emirates: The Urban and Industrial Landscape." This publication highlights the contributions of Italian firms, architects, and engineers to the UAE's architectural development. It underscores Italy's influence on the aesthetic landscape of the region.

Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, noted that trade between Italy and the UAE saw remarkable growth last year. Italian exports reached €7.8 billion, with expectations to hit €9 billion by 2025. This surge is driven by increased demand for Italian products as the UAE undertakes major sustainable urban projects.
The UAE market accounts for 25% of "megaprojects" in the Gulf region. This reflects a growing appetite for Italian goods and services. The demand spans various sectors including technology and construction solutions that align with sustainability goals.
Italian companies at this year's exhibition are showcasing diverse innovations. These include energy-efficient technologies, solutions for residential projects, and design products that merge quality with sustainability. The exhibition highlights Italy's commitment to craftsmanship and modern design.
The two Italian pavilions present a model blending industrial heritage with contemporary design. They feature cutting-edge equipment used globally in major construction sites alongside a variety of stone and marble products from Italy.
Italy's Construction Industry Impact
The construction and stone sector in Italy is valued over €15 billion, employing more than 50,000 people. Over 60% of its production is exported worldwide. This industry stands ready to meet demands for specialised projects in the region.
Soldani emphasised that participating companies are prepared to address large-scale project needs in the Gulf area. Their offerings combine high-quality craftsmanship with innovative solutions tailored to current market demands.
This collaboration between Italy and the UAE continues to strengthen economic ties while promoting sustainable development through shared expertise and resources.
