Sharjah Reports 37,356 Issued And Renewed Business Licenses In First Half Of 2025
The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) reported that the emirate issued and renewed 37,356 business licenses in the first half of this year. This marks an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. The data highlights significant developments in Sharjah's economic sectors and the department's efforts to ensure sustainable growth and business continuity.
In the first half of 2025, Sharjah saw a notable rise in issued licenses, reaching 4,359, which is a 16% increase. Renewed licenses also grew by 7%, totalling 32,997. Commercial licenses led with 23,945 issued and renewed, showing a 7% growth. Professional licenses followed with 10,693, also increasing by about 7%.

Industrial licenses experienced a substantial rise of 14%, totalling 1,924. Eitimad licenses saw a remarkable growth of 41%, reaching 522. E-commerce licenses increased by 23%, totalling 272 compared to last year’s first half.
SEDD conducted extensive inspection campaigns across various establishments in Sharjah during the first half of 2025, totalling 78,887 inspections. The department addressed numerous commercial protection complaints with full resolution achieved through collaboration with relevant parties.
The total number of commercial protection complaints reached 7,685. These included consumer protection complaints at 6,677 cases, commercial fraud complaints at 652 cases, and service agent complaints at 356 cases. The satisfaction rate for consumer protection services was recorded at 78%.
Advancements in Scale Calibration
During the first half of this year, "commercial and gold" scales calibration reached a total of 1,950 units. This represents a significant growth rate of 56% compared to the same period last year.
Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, emphasised that Sharjah's economic sectors are built on strong foundations. These include diversifying income sources and developing key sectors while modernising legal frameworks to support businesses.
Fahad Ahmed Al Khamiri, SEDD Director, highlighted that the data from the first half of 2025 underscores the strength of Sharjah's economy. It reflects the emirate's attractive investment environment and the confidence business sectors have in its opportunities.
