Islamic Fiqh Council's 23rd Session Convenes In Riyadh To Discuss Modern Challenges

In a significant gathering in Riyadh, the Islamic Fiqh Council, led by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, convened for its 23rd session. This assembly brought together senior Islamic scholars and researchers from across the globe to deliberate on contemporary issues and formulate legal rulings. The outcomes of these discussions are set to be translated into various international languages and shared through media channels, aiming to provide clarity on Sharia rulings to Muslims worldwide.

The council's focus extends to promoting the understanding of Islamic jurisprudence and its rich heritage, making it accessible through modern terminology. In his opening remarks, Al Al-Sheikh highlighted the depth and flexibility of Islamic jurisprudence, which offers broad perspectives for addressing current challenges. He also extended gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support towards the Two Holy Mosques and the scholarly community.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, underscored the session's role in examining pressing Sharia issues, backed by thorough academic research. He praised the Saudi leadership for their hospitality and support towards Islamic scholars. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, remarked on the critical timing of this meeting amidst intellectual and political challenges facing the Islamic world, lauding Saudi Arabia's key role in fostering positive development.

Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid and Dr. Koutoub Mustapha Sano also contributed to the discussions, emphasizing the importance of unifying Islamic rulings across different life aspects in line with Sharia provisions. This unity is deemed essential for fostering solidarity among Islamic nations.

The session, which will continue until April 22, features several scientific sessions aimed at reviewing a range of jurisprudential issues. The council's work is crucial in providing a reliable jurisprudential approach to contemporary challenges faced by the Islamic nation.
