IsDB Group Joins AfDB Annual Meetings 2024 To Discuss Africa's Economic Future

The Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group) participated on Wednesday in the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group 2024. The event, themed "Africa’s Transformation, African Development Bank Group, and Reform of the Global Financial Architecture," is being held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. The meetings will continue until the end of the week.

The opening ceremony saw attendance from several African heads of state and government. Notable figures included the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina; the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat; and the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group), Dr. Muhammad bin Sulaiman Al Jasser. Over 3,000 delegates from various African and international countries also participated.

During Wednesday's meetings, the AfDB Group unveiled its new ten-year strategy for 2024-2033. This strategy aims to address urgent challenges facing Africa and to help the continent return to a path of sustainable economic growth and prosperity. "As the leading development finance institution in Africa and the bank of solutions in Africa, we fully understand that the next decade will be pivotal in transforming the continent," said AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina.

Adesina emphasised that as AfDB celebrates 60 years of making a difference in African countries and lives, it remains committed to accelerating support for African nations. This commitment is crucial for ensuring sustainable economic growth and prosperity across the continent.

The Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group serve as a platform for discussing key issues affecting Africa's development. The participation of high-level officials and a large number of delegates underscores the importance of these discussions for shaping Africa's future.
