General Court Of Audit Convenes 5th INTOSAI SDGs Oversight Working Group Meeting

The General Court of Audit in Saudi Arabia recently convened the fifth meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Oversight Working Group alongside the Key Sustainable Development Indicators of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). This significant gathering, chaired by Russia, saw participation from the Kingdom and 35 other member countries, underscoring a global commitment to sustainable development.

The agenda was comprehensive, covering the working group's annual report for 2023-2024, the endorsement of various work-related guidelines, and an in-depth review of member institutions' experiences with SDG oversight across different nations. The General Court of Audit's delegation took this opportunity to present their insights on "Oversight of Sustainable Development Goals: Phase of Assessment and Added Value." They elaborated on their methodology for conducting oversight activities, adherence to INTOSAI's standards and guidelines, and the critical role of ongoing, effective communication with relevant sectors to track progress towards achieving the SDGs.

Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Angari, President of the General Court of Audit, engaged with members of the participating delegations, extending his wishes for their continued success and prosperity. Since its inception in 2007, the SDGs Oversight Working Group has been instrumental in facilitating knowledge exchange among its members. It has played a pivotal role in crafting working papers that guide INTOSAI member institutions in their oversight of the SDGs.

This meeting not only highlights the collaborative efforts towards sustainable development but also reinforces the importance of international cooperation in achieving these global goals.
