Saudi Reef Forum Discusses Role Of Public-Private Partnerships In Rural Development And Agriculture
The inaugural International Forum for Saudi Reef explored the role of rural communities in achieving sustainable development goals aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. The forum highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in realising these objectives and their impact on rural community development. This was discussed during the opening panel session, featuring Al-Ahsa Governor Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr and Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley.
Prince Saud emphasised the Saudi Reef Program's role in nurturing a new generation interested in agriculture. He noted that it supports rural women and productive families by providing a supportive work environment, alongside enabling agricultural regulations. The program's agricultural sectors account for 43% of the total agricultural and female workforce in the Kingdom, boosting agricultural production and self-sufficiency in many crops, thus enhancing food security.

Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley highlighted that the ministry's strategies align with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. The "Saudi Reef Program" focuses on eight sectors to achieve sustainable development by leveraging each region's comparative advantages. The minister stated that the Kingdom's vast land area and diverse climates have contributed to social stability, increased income for over 80,000 beneficiaries, and improved quality of life.
The program provides services directly to beneficiaries in their areas, eliminating the need for citizens to travel for access. This approach has not only enhanced convenience but also ensured that more people benefit from its services without additional burdens.
The forum underscored how rural communities play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development goals. Public-private partnerships are vital for realising these goals effectively, contributing significantly to rural community development. By focusing on empowering these communities, the program aims to foster growth and sustainability across various regions.
Prince Saud stressed that supporting rural women and productive families is central to the program's objectives. By creating a conducive work environment, it enables them to thrive within their communities while contributing to broader agricultural goals.
The Saudi Reef Program's emphasis on agriculture aligns with national priorities under Vision 2030. It aims to increase self-sufficiency in crop production while enhancing food security across the Kingdom. By supporting key agricultural sectors, it contributes significantly to national economic growth.
Overall, the forum highlighted how strategic initiatives like the Saudi Reef Program can drive sustainable development by empowering rural communities and leveraging regional strengths. Through collaboration between public and private sectors, these efforts aim to achieve long-term sustainability aligned with national vision goals.
