International Dates Conference And Exhibition Launched By Abdulrahman Alfadley In Riyadh

The fifth International Dates Conference and Exhibition, themed "World of Dates," was inaugurated by Abdulrahman Alfadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. The event took place in Riyadh and was organised by the National Center for Palms and Dates (NCPD). It highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to strengthening the palm and date sector as a vital part of the national economy.

The conference aims to promote innovation by encouraging practical solutions that lower costs and improve farm management. It focuses on enhancing production quality through modern technologies in palm cultivation. The event seeks to engage organisations, researchers, innovators, and farmers in addressing challenges within the palm and date sector.

A significant highlight was the announcement of winners for the third NCPD International Prize. Fourteen individuals were recognised for their exceptional contributions across three categories: Best Scientific Research, Date Palm Innovative Technology Excellence, and New Product Development. This recognition underscores efforts to advance the sector through research and innovation.

During the event, Alfadley introduced a digital pavilion for Saudi dates on Alibaba's platform. This initiative aims to help Saudi date companies showcase their products globally. Additionally, he launched Milaf Cola, a drink made from date extract by Al Madinah Heritage Company (AMHC), part of the Public Investment Fund. This product exemplifies innovation in transforming dates into contemporary food items.

The conference also witnessed several agreements being signed to foster collaboration between public and private sectors. These partnerships are expected to enhance cooperation within the industry, further supporting its growth and development.

The event not only celebrated achievements but also emphasised future potential in the palm and date industry. By focusing on technological advancements and fostering collaborations, it aims to solidify Saudi Arabia's position as a leader in this field.
