Abu Dhabi Gears Up For The 12th International Autism Research Conference In April 2024
Under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), the 12th International Conference on Advances in Autism Research is set to take place from April 27th to April 30th, 2024. This significant event, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, is a collaborative effort between ZHO, ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), and Lotus Holistic Group Abu Dhabi.
Abdullah Al Hameidan, the Secretary-General of ZHO, highlighted at a press conference that the decision to host this conference in Abu Dhabi is a testament to the success and achievements in autism care and rehabilitation seen in previous editions. The conference aims to foster an environment where experiences and research are shared to enhance the development of services and rehabilitation methods for individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
The emphasis during the announcement was on the conference's goal to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder and leverage recent studies and practical research in this field. It presents an invaluable opportunity for experts, organization staff, institutions, and parents from around the globe to engage with best practices in autism care.
This year's conference will feature 20 sessions focusing on the latest developments in autism research, with over 40 workshops planned. This marks a significant increase from the previous year's four workshops and three seminars. More than 100 speakers from over 20 countries will share their expertise on behaviour modification and biomedical advancements, doubling the number of speakers from the last conference.
"Our aim is to provide the best means of treatment and continue on the path of humanitarian work to ensure the sustainability of the UAE's leadership in caring for all humanitarian aspects," stated Abdullah Al Hameidan.
Dr. Abdulhamid Abdelhay, a member of the executive committee and head of the media committee for the conference, called upon relevant entities and institutions to support these efforts. The conference not only aims to be a scientific beacon but also a source of hope for individuals with autism by providing access to international resources, successful experiences, and beneficial solutions.
The conference seeks to advance foundational knowledge in autism treatment theory and practice globally. It aims to accelerate the dissemination of new medical and educational interventions, showcase advanced biomedical research, present findings from experimental education projects for children with autism, and incorporate leading international practices. Additionally, it will promote broad participation and media outreach for educational purposes, establish international working groups for research and clinical practice, facilitate discussions on implementing findings internationally, and drive progress in biomedical science for autism diagnosis and intervention approaches.
