Intermix Residency Launches Third Edition To Support Artists At JAX District In Diriyah
The Visual Arts Commission has introduced the third edition of the Intermix Residency at JAX District in Diriyah. This initiative aims to enhance artist residency programs in Saudi Arabia, fostering a creative environment for artistic exchange and production. The program supports the Kingdom's arts landscape by offering an inspiring space for artists to collaborate and innovate.
Participants in the residency will have access to dedicated studios, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. They will also engage in workshops, lectures, and field visits. At the end of each cycle, open studios will allow residents to showcase their projects to the public and cultural institutions. This setup encourages artistic experimentation within a collaborative setting that connects artists with experts and the local community.

The residency aligns with the Ministry of Culture’s vision to empower creative practitioners. It aims to strengthen Riyadh’s role as a regional cultural hub while contributing to Saudi Vision 2030. This vision places culture and arts at the core of sustainable development, expanding the creative sector's impact on the national economy.
The third edition consists of three cycles, each lasting three months, hosting 15 residents including visual artists, curators, and art writers from Saudi Arabia and abroad. Applications are open until October 23 via the Ministry of Culture’s digital platform. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and fully available during the residency period.
The residency offers fully funded accommodation and production support. It provides a platform for artistic growth through its framework based on innovation, transformation, and sustainability. These pillars guide the Intermix Residency programs, ensuring participants have a comprehensive experience that enhances their creative skills.
This edition builds on previous ones that hosted over 70 participants. It reinforces Saudi Arabia's presence in the global art scene by nurturing local talent and facilitating cultural exchange with international practitioners exploring the Kingdom's vibrant art environment.
The first cycle of this edition will commence soon, with details for subsequent cycles announced later. The continued expansion of Intermix Residency reflects its commitment to developing a thriving arts ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.
