Integrated Transport Services Achieve Record Numbers During Ramadan Season 1446 AH
Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, the Acting President of the Transport General Authority (TGA), shared that their operational plans for Ramadan 1446 AH were successful. These plans led to excellent performance across public transport services, the Haramain High-Speed Railway, ride-hailing apps, delivery services, and postal shipments. This success highlights the sector's readiness and effective coordination among all involved parties.
"During Ramadan, we provided integrated transport services that met the significant increase in demand, achieving record figures that reflect the sector's readiness and operational efficiency across various activities. We prioritized coordinating efforts with both public and private sector partners to ensure smooth mobility and diverse transport options, enhancing the quality of experience for beneficiaries," Al-Rumaih said.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway played a crucial role by transporting over 1.2 million passengers during Ramadan. This marked a 21% increase from last year, underscoring its reliability as a safe travel option between Makkah and Madinah. Public buses within cities also saw high usage, carrying over 10 million passengers. Notably, Makkah and Madinah accounted for 34% of this total.
In the ride-hailing sector, more than 7.8 million trips were completed during Ramadan. This represented an impressive 81% increase compared to last year’s figures. The car rental industry also experienced growth with over 400,000 contracts signed, marking a 26% rise from the previous year.
Logistics Sector Growth
The logistics sector saw significant activity with over 20 million delivery orders fulfilled through apps. Makkah and Madinah contributed to 32.8% of these deliveries. Additionally, more than 26 million shipments and postal parcels were delivered by 72 licensed companies, showing an 18% growth compared to last year.
Dr. Al-Rumaih emphasized TGA's ongoing regulatory role in enhancing service quality and operational efficiency aligned with national strategic objectives for transport and logistics. He noted these efforts improve experiences for Umrah performers and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
The collaboration between government entities and private sector partners was crucial in achieving this year's Ramadan season success. Dr. Al-Rumaih commended their efforts in ensuring smooth operations across all sectors involved.
