Industry Minister Bandar Alkhorayef Explores Aerospace Collaboration With Airbus Leaders In France
Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef recently met with Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer in Toulouse, France. The meeting included discussions on enhancing cooperation in aviation and space industries. Key attendees were Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Laurent Saint-Martin, CEO of Local Content and Government Procurement Authority Abdulrahman Al Samari, and CEO of the National Industrial Development Center Eng. Saleh Al-Solami.
Alkhorayef emphasised the long-standing partnership between Saudi Arabia and Airbus, which has been a cornerstone for nearly 40 years. This collaboration is vital for advancing aviation and satellite industries. He highlighted the importance of localising aircraft manufacturing as part of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to boost national industrial capabilities and achieve economic diversification.

The minister outlined various incentives to attract global aviation companies like Airbus to Saudi Arabia. These include simplified government procedures for foreign investment, streamlined regulations, easy licensing processes, and competitive access to key minerals such as aluminium and titanium essential for aviation manufacturing.
Saudi Arabia's strategic location as a trade hub connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa was also highlighted. The Kingdom offers a supportive investment climate with government-backed financial solutions and advanced infrastructure to ensure business sustainability. These factors are designed to foster innovation, support supply chain integration, and attract quality investments.
During the visit, Alkhorayef toured Airbus's main manufacturing plant along with its commercial aviation and satellite facilities. He observed advanced manufacturing processes at Airbus's assembly lines. The tour included a look at Airbus's satellite manufacturing capabilities, focusing on innovative technologies that enhance communication development and global security.
Commitment to Cooperation
Scherer praised Saudi Vision 2030 for its role in supporting economic transformation and sustainable development. He stated that "the Kingdom is a strategic partner for the company in the Middle East." Scherer also expressed Airbus's commitment to deepening relations through knowledge exchange and cooperation in advanced technologies.
Saint-Martin underscored the strong economic ties between Saudi Arabia and France. He stressed the importance of strengthening industrial cooperation in aviation and satellite technology to advance shared development goals. This aligns with both nations' interests in fostering innovation within these sectors.

The visit is part of Alkhorayef's official trip to France aimed at strengthening industrial and mining cooperation.
