Industrial Beacons Programme Launched To Transform Saudi Manufacturing Sector With Advanced Technologies

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, and Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal Alibrahim, have introduced the "Industrial Beacons" program. This initiative seeks to empower national factories by integrating Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. The goal is to enhance production efficiency and achieve global recognition within the Global Lighthouse Network.

The program aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to transform the manufacturing sector through digital advancements. AlKhorayef emphasized that this strategic move will help local factories adopt these technologies on a large scale. The focus is on achieving operational excellence and sustainability while positioning Saudi factories as leaders in advanced manufacturing globally.

The ministry's objective is to have 14 factories recognized as global industrial beacons by the World Economic Forum (WEF) by 2030. This effort complements ongoing initiatives like the Future Factories Initiative, which promotes advanced manufacturing solutions in national industries. The first phase of Industrial Beacons involves evaluating 50 leading national factories to prepare them for WEF recognition.

During the launch event, a panel discussion highlighted the journey of factories towards WEF recognition as beacons. Participants included Mashal Al-Mishari from Saudi Aramco and Per Johansson from Bosch Middle East. They shared success stories, challenges, and lessons learned during their transformation into global industrial beacons.

The panel discussion provided valuable insights into the transformation process for factories aiming for global recognition. It showcased how these entities navigated challenges and leveraged opportunities to become leaders in their fields. The session underscored the importance of strategic planning and investment in digital technologies.

The WEF's Global Lighthouse Network currently includes 153 factories recognized for their leadership in Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies across various industries. This network serves as a benchmark for other factories aspiring to achieve similar status.

The launch ceremony was attended by notable figures such as Prince Sultan bin Khalid bin Faisal, Chief Executive of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, along with other senior officials. Their presence underscored the importance of this initiative in advancing Saudi Arabia's industrial capabilities.

This program marks a significant step towards enhancing Saudi Arabia's manufacturing sector through technological integration and global collaboration. By fostering innovation and operational excellence, it aims to position Saudi factories at the forefront of industrial advancements worldwide.
