Inauguration Of Fourth Future Minerals Forum In Riyadh Emphasises Mining Sector Growth And Global Cooperation

The fourth Future Minerals Forum began in Riyadh, inaugurated by Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef on behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The event attracted over 20,000 participants from 170 countries and featured 250 speakers across more than 70 sessions. Alkhorayef highlighted the forum's alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to enhance the mining sector as a key economic driver.

Alkhorayef emphasised the Kingdom's commitment to addressing global challenges like securing critical minerals and ensuring a sustainable energy transition. He stated: "Today, we face pressing global challenges, such as securing critical minerals and ensuring a sustainable energy transition. Through this forum, we aim to enhance international cooperation, forge strategic partnerships, and harness innovation and technology to meet the growing global demands." The minister underscored the importance of international collaboration and innovation in meeting these demands.

The minister reviewed significant achievements in Saudi Arabia's mining sector under visionary leadership. Initiatives like the Exploration Enablement Program have led to over 440,000 meters of drilling across more than 50,000 square kilometers of mineral-rich areas. Additionally, the launch of a mining innovation studio aims to position Riyadh as a global hub for mining innovation.

Ministerial Roundtable Meeting

A key highlight was the fourth Ministerial Roundtable meeting held on Tuesday with representatives from 89 countries. This gathering focused on enhancing collaboration among governments and international bodies to create resilient mineral value chains from Africa to West and Central Asia. Discussions centred on practical steps for strengthening these partnerships.

Forum as a Platform for Collaboration

Alkhorayef urged participants to use the forum as a platform for exchanging ideas and expertise. He encouraged collaboration to strengthen the mining sector in ways that promote sustainable development while providing economic and social benefits. He noted that challenges should be seen as opportunities for creativity and cooperation in finding innovative solutions globally.

Over two days, forum sessions will tackle urgent issues related to mineral supply enhancement. Key topics include value addition, collaboration across supply chains, infrastructure investments, untapped resources in Africa and West Asia, and strategies for building resilient supply chains. These discussions aim to address critical needs within the mining sector effectively.

The forum reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to advancing its mining industry through strategic initiatives aligned with Vision 2030 goals. By fostering international cooperation and leveraging technology, the Kingdom seeks to play a pivotal role in addressing global mineral demands while promoting sustainable practices within the sector.
