Inaugural Al Ain Dates Festival To Celebrate Date Harvest From January 3 To 8, 2025

The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has announced the first Al Ain Dates Festival. This event will occur from 3rd to 8th January 2025 in Al Ain City. The festival will celebrate the date harvest season with various competitions and events.

The festival will feature seven main date competitions, including categories like Al Ain Elite, Khalas, Fard, Dabbas, Bumaan, Sheeshi, and Zamli. A total of 70 prizes worth over AED1.7 million have been set aside for these contests. These competitions aim to highlight the quality and diversity of dates produced in the region.

Visitors can enjoy a date auction, traditional market, heritage village, exhibitor pavilions, and a children's corner. There will also be a section for craftswomen, a photo exhibition, a performance stage, and folk art performances. These attractions are designed to engage attendees of all ages and interests.

Economic and Cultural Significance

The festival emphasises the importance of palm trees in both traditional and modern industries. It supports local products and the agricultural sector with a focus on date production. Dates play a crucial role in economic diversification and contribute significantly to the national economy and food security.
