UAE National Media Office Highlights Importance Of Upholding National Values On Social Media
The National Media Office (NMO) has highlighted the need for UAE social media users to embody national values such as respect, tolerance, and coexistence. They emphasised the importance of adhering to ethical and legal standards when using digital platforms. The office warned against content that disrespects national symbols, public figures, or friendly nations and their communities.
Social media users are encouraged to act responsibly when posting or sharing content. The NMO reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant authorities to monitor violations and take necessary actions. Individuals are urged to report offensive or non-compliant content through official channels, supporting a credible digital media environment.

The office stressed that all citizens share the responsibility of maintaining the UAE’s reputation. President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reminded citizens they represent the UAE globally. He stated, "Every action you take, positive or negative, reflects your Emirati identity. We are all responsible for shaping the reputation of this country, as each of us is a guardian of its honour and standing."
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum outlined principles for an Emirati social media presence. These include embodying wisdom and ethics from the Founding Father, the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan; showcasing UAE’s knowledge and culture; avoiding insults or offensive language; promoting constructive dialogue; and engaging positively with diverse ideas and societies.
The NMO warned that sharing misleading information, hate speech, or defamation violates laws and incurs strict penalties. Legal action will be pursued against those breaching these directives in collaboration with relevant authorities. This ensures a safe digital environment fostering mutual respect.
The office urged social media users to reflect the morals of UAE leadership known for humility and high ethical standards. Emirati citizens' online behaviour should align with leadership’s vision of upholding authentic customs and values.
The NMO remains dedicated to coordinating with authorities to monitor compliance and address violations effectively. By encouraging responsible digital conduct, they aim to maintain a balanced online space that supports positive engagement.
