IMCTC And UN Discuss Enhanced Cooperation In Counter-Terrorism Initiatives
New York, SPA – Major General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), met today with Vladimir Voronkov, UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism and Executive Director of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, both parties discussed avenues for cooperation between IMCTC and UNOCT, focusing on combating terrorism in its various forms. Voronkov was briefed on the coalition's initiatives in intellectual and media fields, efforts to combat the financing of terrorism, and IMCTC's role in coordinating and intensifying international efforts for member states.

Voronkov welcomed Al-Moghedi and highlighted that cooperation among international organizations is crucial in addressing terrorist challenges. He praised the coalition's efforts in serving the interests of allied countries in their fight against terrorism and its achievements in coordinating international efforts. Voronkov also emphasized the significant role of Saudi Arabia, the host country of the IMCTC headquarters, in supporting the coalition since its establishment.
Al-Moghedi expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the United Nations, represented by UNOCT, in supporting, assisting, and training member states in various counter-terrorism fields and building institutional capacities. He underscored the importance of coordinating international efforts, implementing UN Security Council resolutions, and raising awareness about the threats and impacts of terrorism.
Al-Moghedi reiterated that combating terrorism requires international efforts and intensified cooperation based on specific strategic visions within an integrative partnership framework. This approach aims to eradicate this phenomenon that has exhausted many countries. This visit is part of boosting international cooperation with regional and international organizations and centers.
The coalition is keen to establish strategic partnerships among international organizations and enhance existing cooperation to maintain international security and peace.
