IMCTC Completes Training Programme To Combat Terror Financing In Mali
The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) has wrapped up a specialised training program in Bamako, Mali, aimed at combating terrorist financing. This initiative, conducted with Mali's Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs, sought to bolster national capabilities in countering money laundering and terrorist funding. The program is part of IMCTC's strategic efforts to assist its member states.
On Wednesday, May 22, the program was officially launched with notable attendees including Mali’s Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Lieutenant General Sadio Camara, and Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi, Secretary-General of IMCTC. Senior diplomatic and military figures, along with representatives from both national and international organisations, were also present.

A scientific lecture titled "Financial Investigations into Terrorism Financing and Money Laundering Crimes" was a key feature of the program. Over 200 participants attended this session, which included security personnel, oversight bodies, and judicial representatives. The lecture delved into financial tracking methods and analysis of illicit networks while sharing relevant global experiences.
In addition to the lecture, a closed workshop titled "Methods of Countering the Financing of Terrorist Organizations in the Sahel Region" was held. Specialists from significant national and regional entities gathered to discuss shared challenges and successful models. They explored ongoing initiatives and mechanisms for enhanced cooperation.
The event concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continued collaboration between IMCTC and its member states. Participants highlighted the necessity to expand training programs and capacity-building efforts to improve institutional readiness. This aims to strengthen collective responses to security threats across the Sahel region.
The discussions underscored the need for sustained efforts in enhancing cooperation among member states. By focusing on these collaborative measures, IMCTC aims to support its members in effectively addressing terrorism financing challenges.
