IMCTC Secretary General Major General Al-Moghedi Meets Nigerian National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu To Combat Terrorism

In Abuja, Nigeria's capital, a significant meeting took place between Major General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), and Nigeria's National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu. This meeting was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration in combating terrorism. Ribadu expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia's leading role in regional security and its unwavering support for the IMCTC since its inception.

Ribadu emphasised Nigeria's eagerness to collaborate closely with the coalition. He noted that Nigeria, being one of Africa's most terrorism-affected countries, is keen to utilise the coalition's resources to enhance its national security. The partnership aims to leverage IMCTC's capabilities for greater stability and safety within Nigeria and beyond.

Al-Moghedi acknowledged Saudi Arabia's substantial backing of the coalition, which includes funding strategic projects for member states. He highlighted training programs supported by the Saudi government that aim to bolster the skills of security, military, and civil agencies in nations impacted by terrorism. These initiatives are crucial in enhancing their overall capacity.

The IMCTC Secretary General also discussed the Sahel Program, an initiative launched to promote stability in the region. This program provides vital support to member states while countering terrorism's spread. Such efforts are essential in maintaining regional peace and security.

During their visit, Al-Moghedi and his delegation toured Nigeria's National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC). They met with Major General Adamu Garba Laka, Director of NCTC, to gain insights into the centre’s resources and operational mechanisms. Discussions focused on potential areas for collaboration between Nigeria and the coalition.

This visit underscores the coalition’s commitment to fostering cooperation among member states. By working together, they aim to build a secure future for Africa. The IMCTC envisions enhanced coordination that benefits not only Nigeria but also its neighbouring countries in their fight against terrorism.
