IMCTC Launches Peace Journalists Program In Malé To Enhance Media Skills Against Extremism

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) has introduced a new program in Malé, Maldives. This initiative, titled "Analysis of Extremist Discourse and Hate Speech in Digital Media: Smart Countering Tools and Technologies," aims to enhance the skills of media professionals. The program involves 30 participants from various media and academic institutions in the Maldives.

The training is designed to equip journalists with the ability to analyze digital content effectively. Participants will learn to identify extremist and hate speech online and counter it using professional methods. These methods include accurate content analysis, source tracing, and modern digital verification tools.

Deputy Minister of Defense Fathimath Mizna Ali, along with other officials, attended the launch event. The program is part of IMCTC's strategic media initiatives aimed at building media capacity. It seeks to promote moderation and tolerance while enhancing skills to counter extremism.

Participants will also gain insights into the psychological and social impacts of extremist discourse. The training aims to improve their ability to produce responsible analytical reports that contribute to intellectual and social security.
