IMCTC Initiates Comprehensive Training On Counter-Terrorism Financing In Mauritania

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) has initiated a three-day training course in Nouakchott, Mauritania. This course, titled "Dangers of Terrorism Financing, Money Laundering and Countering Measures," aims to strengthen the skills of professionals combating terrorist financing and money laundering. Participants include senior Mauritanian judicial and financial officials such as judges and financial department directors.

Consultant and Trainer in Governance Dr. Salem bin Saeed BaHmmam is spearheading the training sessions. The program focuses on four key areas: understanding the risks associated with terrorism financing and money laundering, identifying vulnerabilities and suspicious indicators, exploring regulatory frameworks and international standards, and learning methods to combat these illicit activities.

IMCTC Launches Training on Terrorism Financing

This training is part of a broader initiative launched by IMCTC on December 2 in Nouakchott. The program was attended by notable figures including IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi and Mauritanian Minister of Defense Hanana Ould Sidi. Several ministers, senior officials, and ambassadors were also present at the event.

The five-year program aims to enhance the counter-terrorism capabilities of Sahel countries. It seeks to refute extremist ideologies, raise awareness about their dangers, and provide technical support against terrorist organizations. The initiative includes 239 diverse activities focusing on intellectual, media, counter-terrorism financing, and military aspects.

IMCTC was established in 2015 through an initiative by Saudi Arabia. It comprises 42 member states working together to combat terrorism effectively. The coalition strives to achieve global leadership in counter-terrorism efforts by unifying the efforts of its member states.

The comprehensive program is implemented in collaboration with leading specialists in counter-terrorism. It aims to provide technical support and training to bolster the capabilities of participating countries in combating terrorism.

The training course currently underway is designed to equip participants with essential tools for detecting and countering illicit financial activities linked to terrorism. By enhancing their skills, the course aims to fortify efforts against terrorism financing and money laundering.

This initiative reflects IMCTC's commitment to strengthening global security through collaborative efforts among its member states. By focusing on key areas such as intellectual discourse and media engagement, the coalition seeks to address the root causes of extremism while providing practical solutions for combating terrorism.
