IMCTC Marks 10th Anniversary With Focus On Global Counter-Terrorism Initiatives
The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) recently celebrated a decade of collaborative efforts aimed at bolstering security and tackling terrorism worldwide. Established in December 2015, the coalition was initiated by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and launched under the auspices of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The coalition's primary goal is to unite the Muslim world against terrorism.
In 2023, a significant development occurred when Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz took on the role of chairman for the IMCTC Council of Ministers of Defense. This marked a new era of enhanced oversight and strategic momentum for the coalition. In February 2024, Prince Khalid further demonstrated commitment by announcing SAR100 million in financial support from Saudi Arabia, along with 46 specialized training scholarships for member states.

Over its ten-year journey, the IMCTC has developed an integrated operational model focusing on four main areas: intellectual, media, countering terrorism financing, and military operations. These efforts have benefited thousands of trainees across member countries. The coalition's work is built on continuous support from Saudi Arabia, aiming to expand initiatives that focus on sustainability and knowledge transfer.
IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi highlighted that this anniversary serves as a milestone for assessing progress and planning future strategies. He emphasized that the coalition will continue to enhance initiatives that promote security, peace, and moderation through deepening partnerships and expanding knowledge-sharing efforts.
The coalition plans to broaden its initiatives to strengthen security and peace while promoting moderation values. This involves expanding partnerships and focusing on sustainable practices and knowledge transfer among member states. The ongoing support from Saudi Arabia plays a crucial role in these efforts, ensuring that the coalition remains effective in its mission.
This anniversary not only marks past achievements but also sets the stage for future endeavors aimed at confronting global threats more effectively. By building on its established foundation, the IMCTC aims to continue making significant strides in combating terrorism and extremism worldwide.
