Saudi CEO Highlights Environmental Initiatives at Expo

The desert ecosystems in Saudi Arabia are known for their rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. These ecosystems have adapted remarkably to harsh desert conditions. Al-Hariqi pointed out that the network of royal reserves plays a crucial role in conserving this biodiversity. This network operates under the Council of Royal Reserves, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The royal reserves aim to ensure sustainable conservation efforts by collaborating with local communities. This initiative is aligned with both Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative. The focus is on maintaining ecological balance while fostering community involvement.

Promoting sustainable livelihoods is a key aspect of conservation strategies. Al-Hariqi emphasized activities like beekeeping and cultivating medicinal plants as environmentally friendly practices. These activities not only help preserve biodiversity but also provide economic benefits to local communities, ensuring sustainability principles are upheld.

Al-Hariqi stated that these efforts reflect a commitment to linking environmental preservation with economic growth for local populations. By integrating conservation with community development, Saudi Arabia aims to create a model of sustainability that benefits both nature and people.

The panel discussion highlighted how Saudi Arabia's initiatives contribute to global environmental goals. Through international cooperation and innovative approaches, the Kingdom seeks to enhance its role in protecting natural habitats and species worldwide.
