Hotel Indigo Al Khobar Set To Open By 2027, Backed By IHG And Tourism Development Fund
In a significant move to bolster the hospitality and tourism sector in Saudi Arabia, IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced a new partnership with Refad Real Estate Investment and Development Company. This collaboration is set to introduce the Hotel Indigo brand to the Eastern Province by September 2027. The initiative is supported by the Tourism Development Fund (TDF), highlighting a shared commitment to sustainable tourism and hospitality in the Kingdom.
The upcoming Hotel Indigo and Residences Al Khobar aims to become a landmark destination, offering over 200 rooms and serviced hotel apartments. Situated in the lively Khobar Corniche area, the hotel is designed to reflect the unique culture and spirit of its location, promising an immersive experience for guests.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director of India, Middle East, and Africa at IHG Hotels and Resorts, emphasized Al-Khobar's dynamic economy, rich culture, and natural beauty as key factors making it an ideal location for the new Hotel Indigo. He expressed enthusiasm about delivering an unparalleled hospitality experience in the region.
Abdulhadi AbdulAziz Alqahtani, Managing Director of Refad Real Estate Investment and Development Company, highlighted the hotel's focus on offering distinctive culinary experiences. With plans for a neighborhood-inspired café, a lobby lounge, an event hall, and a business lounge, guests can look forward to diverse dining options. Additionally, the hotel will feature extensive meeting facilities covering 290 square meters across five meeting rooms.
Beyond dining and business amenities, Hotel Indigo will provide a variety of entertainment options including a swimming pool, gym, and spa. These facilities are designed to ensure guests have an invigorating stay.
IHG Hotels and Resorts currently operates 43 hotels across six brands within the Kingdom: Six Senses, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and Apartments, and voco. With 32 more hotels scheduled to open in the next two to five years, IHG's expansion efforts are set to significantly enhance the hospitality landscape in Saudi Arabia.
