Over 40 Partnerships Set To Propel IGCF 2024 To New Heights In Government Communication
The International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) 2024 is set to take place on 4th-5th September at Expo Centre Sharjah. This 13th edition, organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), will gather over 40 local, regional, and global entities under the theme ‘Agile Governments... Innovative Communication’. The forum aims to empower governments and organisations to master communication in a rapidly evolving world.
The forum will feature strategic collaborations with distinguished partners. Du – Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company will support the forum’s innovation track, focusing on enhancing audience engagement through modern communication technologies. Arada will explore the impact of government communication on strengthening the tourism economy in investment tourism sector sessions.

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry will contribute to the economic resilience track. They will focus on utilising communication practices to support both established and emerging economic sectors. Additionally, partnerships with entities like the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) will deliver a comprehensive programme featuring Shams Talk and Influencers Room.
The Executive Office of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi will empower women and youth through a session titled ‘Renewing Media Discourse: Is Youth the Key to Transformation?’. This session aims to explore how young media specialists can redefine institutional identities. The UAE Ministry of Community Development will present inspiring success stories during ‘Meeting Across Generations…Transferring Treasures of Knowledge and Experiences.’
The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa) will spotlight advancements in food security and sustainable development. Meanwhile, the Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry will discuss communication's role in enhancing national industry. The Sharjah Youth Council will emphasise scientific research and youth's role in digital government communication.
Sessions on Public Safety and Family Cohesion
To enhance public safety, the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority will organise four specialised workshops. Concurrently, the Districts and Villages Affairs Department in Sharjah will focus on family cohesion through six sessions aimed at improving social communication strategies. The Family Development Department and Branches will explore ‘perception of the youth on openness to cultures’.
Additionally, the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators from Sharjah will host a session for children to discuss media content targeting them. The Arab Youth Centre, in collaboration with Deraya, will organise training courses, speeches, and panel discussions in the "Youth" Hall.
International Perspectives
International perspectives will be prominently featured at IGCF 2024. The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), along with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), will present a programme titled ‘Government Marketing and Nation Branding Program.’ This programme aims to provide valuable insights into strategic marketing for nations.
The Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF) will enhance participants' skills through an AI Skills Camp focused on practical applications of AI in journalism. The United Arab Emirates University will organise the ‘Universities Challenge,’ blending academic innovation with practical application.
Media Partners' Role
Leading media partners are set to significantly enhance IGCF 2024’s impact both locally and globally. Sky News Arabia, as the International Arabic News Partner, will participate in sessions like ‘Why Resilient Governments Are Building Protective Shields with Artificial Intelligence.’ CNN Business Arabic, as the Arabic Business News Partner, will support the forum’s media discourse.
On a local level, strong partnerships include Emirates News Agency (WAM), Abu Dhabi Media, and Dar Al Khaleej. Emirates Airlines is also serving as the Official Carrier for this edition.
TRENDS Research & Advisory returns for a second consecutive year with four specialised sessions on scientific research, virtual worlds, and personal interaction trends. They plan to unveil their study titled ‘Governmental Resilience and Adaptability in Facing Modern Challenges’ exclusively at IGCF 2024.
The American University of Sharjah plans to debate ‘The Creative Frontier: Can AI Redefine Media Campaigns?.’ Meanwhile, Al Qasimia University will discuss ‘Responsible Use of AI in Media.’ The UAE Journalists Association aims to explore ‘The Role of Effective Communication in Enriching Nations’ Talent Wealth.’
Forbes Middle East, collaborating with GovCampus, is set to lead a three-day training programme titled ‘Influencer Dynamics: Mastering Public Communication in the Digital Age.’ This programme includes panel discussions, workshops, and interactive activities designed to equip participants with advanced communication skills.
Recognising youth's critical role in enriching discussions at IGCF 2024 is essential. Strawberry Fields plans a full-day training course titled ‘New Generation Skills for Kids: Integrating System Thinking & Technology,’ ensuring even young participants are prepared for future challenges.
In addition to these efforts, various entities such as Apolitical—the leading global platform for enhancing government communications—will contribute unique insights throughout several forum activities. The League of Arab States alongside other organisations like Emirates Association for Lawyers & Legal further enriches this diverse programme.
