Over 4.87 Million Iftar Meals Provided At Two Holy Mosques During First Week Of Ramadan

During the initial week of Ramadan 1446 AH, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque distributed 4,879,682 Iftar meals to visitors at both mosques. Additionally, Zamzam water consumption reached 8,393 cubic meters. The authority also managed waste disposal efficiently, handling 1,196 tons to maintain a clean environment for worshippers.

The authority recorded a peak in Umrah performers, with 500,000 pilgrims in one day. To facilitate smooth movement, more than 196 entrances were designated for easy access and departure. This included five main entry gates that significantly improved crowd flow. Modern technology was used to monitor crowd movements at these main entrances.

To further enhance visitor experience and operational efficiency at the Grand Mosque, 200 digital screens were installed for wayfinding within the mosque and its courtyards. These screens provided clear directions to help visitors navigate easily. Additionally, "pedestrian assistance teams" were introduced to offer on-site support to worshippers.

The authority trialed hair-shaving vehicles allowing Umrah performers to end Ihram conveniently. Two luggage storage centers with six collection points were also opened to assist visitors. These initiatives aimed to improve the overall experience for those performing religious rituals.

In an effort to enrich cultural and religious experiences, the "First Home" exhibition was inaugurated in the third Saudi expansion area. Many visitors attended this exhibition, which showcased the history of the Kaaba's construction and its evolution over time. Various artifacts were displayed throughout the event.

Volunteer Contributions

Volunteer organizations played a crucial role in providing services within the Grand Mosque. Volunteers offered guidance and support across five areas: informational, organizational, and health services. Their contributions helped create a comfortable and safe environment for all visitors.

The authority's efforts during Ramadan ensured a seamless experience for worshippers at both holy sites. By integrating modern technology and innovative services, they enhanced operational efficiency while maintaining a focus on cultural enrichment and visitor satisfaction.
