IDEX 2025 Highlights Advanced Robotic Vehicles And Defence Technologies In UAE
IDEX 2025 is spotlighting the latest in robotic vehicle technology, focusing on innovations in defence and security. The event underscores the integration of advanced technologies to aid armed forces in varied operational settings. It also highlights the UAE's dedication to developing cutting-edge solutions for defence and security needs.
Several companies showcased their innovations at this global event. Soframe from France introduced an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) designed for detecting and removing mines and IEDs. They are considering moving some manufacturing to the UAE, contingent on successful field trials.

L3Harris Technologies from the USA presented the T4 robotic system, a highly mobile UGV equipped with advanced haptic feedback technology. This system is well-suited for challenging terrains, similar to those found in the UAE.
EDGE, a UAE-based company, displayed its SINYAR-LAR3P unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which is still under development. This UAV boasts reconnaissance and combat capabilities, featuring a significant payload capacity and high speed.
Haya Al Nuaimi, a mechanical design engineer at EDGE, discussed the SINYAR-LAR3P UAV. She noted that it is controlled via a ground station using satellite communication. Although not yet operational, it has attracted considerable interest at IDEX and NAVDEX 2025.
The UAV can carry up to 610 kg and reach speeds of 650 km/h. This reflects the UAE's progress in delivering advanced systems that support modern military operations.
Timoney from Ireland introduced their "Electric Axle" system as an alternative to traditional combustion engines. This system enhances operational performance by offering more power, flexibility, and silent operation.
GCS highlighted their effective mine and IED clearance systems, including various sizes of robotic vehicles. They have already sold six robotic systems to the UAE for humanitarian purposes.
IDEX 2025 illustrated rapid advancements in robotic vehicle technology and emphasized international collaboration within the defence sector. The UAE plays a pivotal role in fostering these partnerships.
