Over 1,000 IT Leaders Gather In Dubai For The Successful 17th IDC Middle East CIO Summit
Dubai - The International Data Corporation (IDC) recently concluded its 17th annual Middle East CIO Summit, which was held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai on February 21-22. This year's summit, attended by over 1,000 IT leaders, served as a fertile ground for discussions on 'The Future of IT: Rethinking Digitalisation for an AI Everywhere World'. The event was characterised by its blend of keynote speeches, case studies, and panel discussions, focusing on themes such as digital resiliency, digital trust, sustainability, artificial intelligence, and the emergence of the intelligent enterprise.
Among the distinguished speakers were H.E. Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, head of cybersecurity for the UAE government, and Dr. Bushra Al Blooshi, advisor chief executive of the Dubai Electronic Security Centre, alongside other notable figures like Glenn Wilkinson, a renowned ethical hacker. Their insights were complemented by Steven Frantzen, IDC's senior vice president and regional managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, who spoke on the global IT landscape's evolution.

The summit also featured 'For the CIO, by the CIO' panel discussions, bringing together over 20 industry pioneers from the region and beyond. These panels delved into topics critical to the IT community, including talent development, IT operating models, IT performance optimisation, and vendor selection and management strategies.
Jyoti Lalchandani, IDC's group vice president and regional managing director for the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa, emphasised the importance of adopting an 'AI Everywhere' approach. He highlighted that leveraging AI is imperative for organisations striving for competitive parity and is a priority for forward-thinking governments and digital entities aiming to drive innovation, enhance customer experiences, and optimise operational efficiencies.
The summit also saw the presentation of Foundry's CIO50 Awards 2023, which celebrate the Middle East's top technology leaders for their innovation and resilience. This recognition is part of Foundry's global programme to honour visionary technology executives for their exceptional contributions to the enterprise landscape.
IDC expressed its gratitude towards the regional CIO Advisory Council members for their significant contributions to the summit's success. Esteemed members include H.E. Mubaraka M. Ali Ibrahim from Emirates Health Services Establishment (UAE), Mohammad Alharbi from the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (KSA), and Yazeed Al Otaibi from the Ministry of Health (KSA), among others. Their insights and experiences played a pivotal role in enriching the discussions and outcomes of the IDC Middle East CIO Summit 2024.
