ICJR ME Emphasises Importance Of Advanced Training In Robotics And AI For Surgeons

The 12th International Congress for Joint Reconstruction, Middle East (ICJR ME) recently concluded at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai. This event saw participation from 1,000 doctors and surgeons representing 20 countries. The Congress highlighted the necessity for medical professionals to remain informed about global advancements, especially in technologies like robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), which are expected to play a crucial role in the future.

Dr. Samih Tarabichi, President of the Congress organised by Info Plus Events, emphasised the transformative impact of robotics and AI in joint replacement surgeries. He stressed that while these technologies offer significant benefits, it is essential for doctors to undergo comprehensive training and acquire proper qualifications to use them effectively. Dr. Tarabichi advised medical professionals to meticulously evaluate each technique's pros and cons, noting that these tools serve as supportive aids requiring precise application.

ICJR ME Calls for Enhanced Doctor Training

Dr. Tarabichi also pointed out that international companies promoting these technologies focus heavily on training surgeons due to their sensitive nature and direct application on human patients. The International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR), an independent non-profit organisation, aims to enhance medical education in orthopedics through innovative teaching methods that have improved patient health outcomes worldwide.

The ICJR plans to expand its reach by incorporating four additional countries alongside the UAE and Egypt. This expansion includes increasing Illinois Board of Directors meetings to four annually and conducting 16 training courses across regional countries. These initiatives aim to equip surgeons with skills in robotics and AI, ensuring they keep pace with modern technological advancements.

An innovative new website will be launched by ICJR next year. This platform will facilitate idea exchange among local and international doctors while showcasing the latest research and innovations beneficial for medical professionals globally. Over three days, the conference featured more than 21 sessions and 130 scientific lectures introducing modern techniques in joint surgery.

Topics covered included joint design, 3D printing applications, and robotic surgery innovations. Complex cases were discussed alongside seminars and workshops that trained doctors on best practices for joint replacement. The conference also addressed recent developments in sports medicine, ankle treatments, and specific requirements for joint reimplantation.

Scientific Contributions and Workshops

The event presented 39 scientific research papers, including contributions from 13 doctors and resident doctors. Additionally, four training workshops were organised by companies participating in the exhibition accompanying the conference. These sessions provided valuable insights into cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of joint reconstruction.

This year's Congress underscored the importance of staying abreast with technological advancements in medicine. By fostering collaboration among international experts, it aimed to enhance surgical practices through education and innovation.
