ICAO Global Summit In Riyadh Aims To Strengthen Aviation Sector Cooperation
The two-day International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Facilitation 2024 Global Summit commenced yesterday, focusing on cooperation with member states and the aviation community. The event underscores the significance of providing facilities in air transport. Held in collaboration with the ICAO regional office, the summit features President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the ICAO Council Salvatore Sciacchitano, 30 speakers, and over 500 experts and specialists in the aviation sector.
The summit coincides with the Future Aviation Forum (FAF) at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center (KAICC) in Riyadh. Al-Duailej expressed gratitude to ICAO for selecting Saudi Arabia as the host, emphasising that this choice reflects the Kingdom’s prominent role in the air transport industry and its notable contributions to international civil aviation.

Al-Duailej highlighted that the summit provides an opportunity to showcase GACA’s efforts to enhance passengers’ experiences at Saudi airports. He noted that GACA has increased investments and implemented projects to improve aviation infrastructure, aligning with the national strategy for the aviation sector as outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
Sciacchitano also thanked Saudi Arabia for hosting both the FAF and the ICAO Facilitation Global Summit. He stated that these events contribute to international efforts to advance the aviation sector globally and establish foundations for constructive cooperation aimed at achieving aviation development goals worldwide.
"ICAO has a plan to develop the global air transport sector and ensure maximum safety and security for all parties involved in air aviation," Sciacchitano said. The summit serves as a platform to discuss measures adopted to enhance effectiveness and manage public health risks within aviation.
A workshop focusing on assisting victims of aviation accidents and their families is scheduled on the sidelines of the summit.
