I Am At Sharjah Museums Exhibition Showcases Student Creativity And Cultural Heritage
The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) recently opened the "I am at Sharjah Museums" exhibition at Bait Al Naboodah. This event celebrates the creativity of students who participated in a competition aimed at encouraging young artists to express their views on the emirate's cultural heritage. Esteemed representatives from SMA and guests from the Sharjah Private Education Authority attended the inauguration.
The competition, which concluded on 3rd November, attracted numerous young talents eager to capture Sharjah's cultural essence through photography. Participants explored SMA's 16 museums across Sharjah, Khorfakkan, and Kalba, capturing moments that highlight the beauty and significance of these institutions. The museums feature themes such as Islamic culture, art, archaeology, and marine life.

Winning photographs from the competition are now showcased in the exhibition. These images reveal unique perspectives on museum architecture and exhibits. Notable pieces include "Beauty and Tranquility" from the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, "Sun Reflections" at Bait Al Naboodah, and "A World of Imagination" from the Sharjah Aquarium. Each photo offers a glimpse into the distinct character of each museum.
The competition targeted Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 students from both public and private schools. Eighteen winners received cash prizes for their outstanding work. Schools with high participation rates were also recognised, including Secondary Model School for Boys – Sharjah, Gulf Asian English School – Sharjah, and Al Ahliah Charity Private School for Girls.
SMA expressed pride in the students' creativity and reiterated its commitment to fostering cultural appreciation among youth. By providing a platform for young people to explore and showcase Sharjah's museums, SMA aims to deepen their connection to heritage and instill lasting appreciation for community stories.
The exhibition will remain open at Bait Al Naboodah until April 6, 2025. It invites students, families, and community members to celebrate these youthful interpretations of Sharjah’s heritage. The Authority views these images as evidence of young people's curiosity and pride in their cultural surroundings.
Through this initiative, SMA hopes to nurture a deeper understanding of heritage among youth while inspiring them to engage with their cultural environment actively.
