Saudi Arabia's Human Rights Commission Implements Anti-Trafficking System In Line With Global Standards
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made significant strides in human rights and combating human trafficking under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. With support from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, numerous reforms have been implemented to address these issues. A notable initiative is the establishment of the General Directorate for Community Security and Combating Human Trafficking Crimes, which aims to enhance public safety by eradicating trafficking crimes.
On the occasion of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, observed on July 30, Hala bint Mazyad Altuwaijri, President of the Human Rights Commission, highlighted these efforts. She noted that Saudi Arabia has strengthened its regulatory framework by adopting a National Policy for the Elimination of Forced Labor. This includes issuing and amending various regulations to protect labor rights and provide safeguards for whistleblowers, witnesses, experts, and victims.

The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking is focused on achieving long-term impact through its national action plan. This involves developing a national referral mechanism for victims and approving guidelines for trafficking indicators. Additionally, a database of trafficking cases has been created to aid in these efforts.
Altuwaijri emphasized the importance of partnerships at multiple levels to combat human trafficking effectively. These collaborations include national, regional, and international efforts. One such initiative is a joint fund established with the International Organization for Migration to support victims.
The Kingdom's commitment to combating human trafficking is evident through its comprehensive approach. By enhancing its regulatory framework and implementing protective measures, Saudi Arabia aims to create a safer environment for all individuals. The focus remains on sustainable impact through strategic planning and collaboration with global partners.
These initiatives reflect Saudi Arabia's dedication to addressing human rights issues and eradicating human trafficking. Through continuous reforms and international cooperation, the Kingdom seeks to ensure safety and security for everyone within its borders.
