Human Resources Ministry Revamps Elderly Care System To Align With Saudi Vision 2030
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development is revamping its elderly care system to align with Saudi Vision 2030. This new strategy moves away from traditional services, adopting a national framework that focuses on empowerment, governance, and partnerships. The goal is to provide equitable access to quality care while ensuring long-term sustainability.
To facilitate this transformation, the ministry has introduced several advanced initiatives. One key initiative involves outsourcing the operation of elderly care centres to qualified private and non-profit entities. These centres are designed with an emphasis on psychological, social, and environmental aspects and are directly supervised by the ministry to maintain high standards.

The ministry has also developed digital services aimed at enhancing independence for senior citizens. These include a senior citizens privilege card accessible through the ministry's app and linked to the Tawakkalna app. Additionally, electronic services for residential care requests and a direct support channel have been established.
A variety of benefits are provided for the elderly, including enhanced social security, assistive medical devices, designated parking spaces, and priority service. A digital inclusiveness service allows seniors to register for programs without needing physical visits. This approach aims to make services more accessible and convenient for older adults.
The ministry has activated the role of non-profit organizations by licensing them as active partners in service delivery. This move empowers these organizations to contribute significantly to elderly care. Furthermore, the private sector is encouraged to participate through social responsibility programs.
Collaborative Efforts with Partners
In collaboration with various partners, more than 50 unique initiatives have been launched. These efforts aim to enhance the quality of life for the elderly by providing comprehensive support and resources. The ministry's strategy reflects a commitment to improving elderly care through innovative solutions and collaborative efforts.
This comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of elderly care are addressed, from psychological well-being to social inclusion. By fostering partnerships with private entities and non-profits, the ministry aims to create a sustainable model that benefits both seniors and society as a whole.
