Human Resources Ministry Ends Ban On Working Under Sunlight To Ensure Worker Safety
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, has lifted the ban on outdoor work during peak sunlight hours. This regulation was enforced from June 15 to September 15, prohibiting work between noon and 3 p.m. The decision underscores their commitment to worker safety by aligning with occupational standards.
During the enforcement period, the ministry conducted extensive field inspections across Saudi Arabia to ensure adherence to the regulation. A compliance rate of 94% was achieved this year, with 29,121 inspection visits carried out. Additionally, several monitoring campaigns were implemented to maintain oversight.

The council initiated a comprehensive awareness campaign through social media platforms. This effort aimed to educate employers and employees about the importance of adhering to safety measures and preventive practices. Educational materials were disseminated widely to reinforce these messages.
Public engagement played a crucial role in monitoring compliance. The ministry received 325 reports from citizens regarding potential violations. These reports contributed to identifying areas where improvements were needed and ensuring that regulations were followed.
A total of 2,414 violations were recorded during the inspection period. These findings highlight areas where further attention is required to ensure full compliance with safety regulations. The ministry's efforts are part of a broader strategy to foster a culture of prevention in workplaces.
The integrated system of awareness and monitoring aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals. It aims to enhance workplace environments by advancing occupational health and safety standards across all sectors. This initiative reflects a commitment to improving conditions for workers throughout the Kingdom.
The ministry's actions demonstrate a dedication to safeguarding workers' health by promoting best practices in occupational safety. By lifting the ban, they continue to focus on creating safe working conditions while maintaining vigilance through ongoing inspections and public involvement.
