Human Resources Minister Ahmed Al-Rajhi Opens Seventh Global Occupational Safety And Health Conference In Riyadh
Ahmed Al-Rajhi, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, has introduced several initiatives to bolster Saudi Arabia's occupational safety and health system. These initiatives were unveiled at the seventh Global Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Riyadh, which continues until May 6. The measures include establishing the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and launching a national incentives program for compliance and excellence.
The conference also saw the introduction of the Gulf strategic framework for occupational safety and health. Additionally, the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health Award was announced to promote a culture of excellence and dedication in workplaces. These steps aim to enhance workplace safety standards across the Kingdom.

During his address at the event's opening ceremony, Al-Rajhi highlighted significant advancements since forming the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health over three years ago. He noted that work-related fatalities have decreased to less than one per 100,000 workers. Moreover, there has been a substantial increase in Saudis employed in occupational safety roles, now exceeding 29,000—a rise of over 130% compared to 2022.
Al-Rajhi stressed that rapid economic and technological changes require a strong prevention culture and continuous updates to safety systems. He reiterated Saudi Arabia's dedication to protecting human lives by ensuring safe working environments aligned with top standards. This commitment aims to boost labor market competitiveness while enhancing life quality.
The minister also inaugurated an exhibition accompanying the conference. He visited various pavilions showcasing government and private sector innovations in occupational safety practices. This exhibition highlights cutting-edge developments aimed at improving workplace safety across different industries.
The initiatives launched at this conference signify a major step forward in enhancing occupational safety within Saudi Arabia. By focusing on compliance, excellence, and innovation, these measures are set to create safer working conditions throughout the Kingdom.
