2024 HCI Insight Report Unveiled: A Roadmap For Human Capability And Economic Growth

On United Nations World Youth Skills Day, the Human Capability Development Program (HCDP) launched the Human Capability Initiative (HCI) Insight Report 2024. This report compiles insights from over 100 dialogue sessions held during the HCI conference in February 2024. The event was hosted under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The HCI Insight Report highlights five key policy recommendations for actionable progress towards human capability development. These include investing in education and training, supporting lifelong learning, adopting flexible labor practices, strengthening social supports, and utilizing data-driven policymaking. HCDP CEO Eng. Anas AlMudaifer emphasized these points in the release.

HCI 2024 Report: Future Skills & Growth

Deputy Minister for Skills and Training at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Dr. Ahmed Alzahrani, stated: "The HCI Insight Report emphasizes the important role skills, education, and training play in enabling success in uncertain job markets. These insights are aligned with Vision 2030 and the emphasis placed by the government towards enhancing alignment between education and labor market needs."

UNICEF Area Representative for the Gulf, Eltayeb Adam, praised HCDP's efforts in launching the report. He said: "UNICEF believes in the power of continuous dialogue to develop every child's capability in KSA. The report addresses the importance of investing in early childhood as a vital aspect of capacity development, laying the foundations for lifelong learning, health, and productivity."

The report underscores how human capability is crucial for future productivity and economic growth. It discusses opportunities and challenges facing human capabilities amid global changes and stresses the importance of skills required for future global labor markets. Policy solutions to mitigate these challenges are also addressed.

Panel Discussions and Contributions

Panel discussions were organized during the launch event with experts from various organizations including UNICEF, UNDP, PwC Middle East, Oliver Wyman, Kearney, and IE Business School. Prominent Saudi models competing globally also participated to highlight their roles and contributions in various fields.

The event titled "Shaping Our Capabilities for a Thriving Tomorrow" was hosted by King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC). A hundred and fifty participants attended this launch event.

The 2024 edition of the report emphasizes developing resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing labor market. It also focuses on building quality education systems to support knowledge and skills development.

Collaborative Efforts

The HCI Insight Report 2024 was developed with contributions from UNICEF, UNDP, PwC Middle East, Oliver Wyman, Kearney, IE Business School, King Saud University, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.

"The HCI Insight Report serves as a valuable reference for practitioners, policymakers, business leaders, and individuals supporting human capability development," said Eng. Anas AlMudaifer.

The report aims to enhance economic growth by preparing a skilled workforce through early interventions that develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills.

This initiative aligns with Vision 2030's goals to enhance alignment between education systems and labor market needs.
