Hong Kong Introduces New Initiatives To Attract GCC Travellers At Arabian Travel Market 2025
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has introduced new plans at the Arabian Travel Market 2025 (ATM), highlighting its dedication to the Gulf region. ATM 2025, a major travel trade event in the Middle East, serves as an excellent venue for HKTB to showcase its strategy aimed at attracting more travellers from the GCC through customised experiences and strategic alliances.
Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to attract GCC visitors with its mix of tradition and modernity, combining Eastern and Western aesthetics. The city offers vibrant urban experiences alongside natural beauty. With increasing interest from GCC travellers, visitor numbers from this region to Hong Kong rose by 69% in 2024 compared to the previous year.

To capitalise on this momentum, HKTB is intensifying efforts with market-specific initiatives. These include enhancing destination awareness, broadening industry outreach, and developing high-quality offerings tailored to Middle Eastern preferences. Services such as halal-certified facilities, family-friendly attractions, luxury shopping, and wellness experiences are being expanded.
Dane Cheng, Executive Director of HKTB, stated, "Hong Kong offers a compelling blend of experiences that align with the tastes and travel preferences of GCC visitors and Muslim travellers." He emphasised that Hong Kong provides cultural authenticity, premium hospitality, and halal-friendly services to meet the expectations of discerning Middle Eastern tourists.
Cheng further noted that as air connectivity between Hong Kong and the GCC improves alongside enhanced promotional efforts, they anticipate welcoming more visitors from the region. This will allow them to explore everything Hong Kong has to offer.
Enhanced Air Connectivity
Air connectivity is vital for HKTB’s growth strategy in the GCC. There are multiple daily flights from Dubai and Doha, along with frequent connections from Riyadh. This makes access to Hong Kong easier than ever for Gulf travellers.
The HKTB's initiatives reflect a commitment to providing experiences that resonate with Middle Eastern visitors' lifestyles and preferences. By focusing on tailored offerings and strategic partnerships, Hong Kong aims to strengthen its appeal as a top travel destination for GCC tourists.
