Honeywell Launches New Gas Detector Assembly Line At Masdar Innovation Centre To Support UAE Manufacturing Goals
Honeywell has introduced a new gas detector assembly line at the Masdar Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi. This development supports the UAE's industrial goals and localisation efforts. The initiative aligns with the 'Make it in the Emirates' campaign, enhancing local manufacturing, speeding up technology transfer, and creating long-term value within the country.
The assembly line focuses on Honeywell’s RAEGuard 3 Series, which are fixed detectors for toxic and flammable gases using advanced sensors. It also includes the BW Clip Series of portable single-gas detectors. These devices aim to protect workers in potentially dangerous environments and will cater to both local and regional markets.

With over 70 years of presence in the UAE, Honeywell continues to support the nation's economic transformation. The new assembly line contributes to Operation 300Bn, a strategic plan to increase the industrial sector's GDP contribution from AED133 billion to AED300 billion by 2031. This move also fosters job creation and enhances local skills.
George Bou Mitri, president of Honeywell Industrial Automation for Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central Asia, stated: "Honeywell has been a longstanding partner of the UAE, committed to empowering local industry and enabling economic diversification." He added that this new line is not just an expansion but a step towards a smarter and safer industrial future for the UAE.
The Masdar Innovation Centre was established in 2019 in Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City. It focuses on assembling, integrating, and testing advanced automation technologies locally. This facility ensures quicker delivery times, customisation options for local needs, and technical support across the UAE and Middle East.
Last year, this facility achieved top scores in the UAE’s Industrial Technology Transformation Index (ITTI), which measures digitalisation and sustainability standards. Following this achievement, Honeywell was recognised as a UAE Industry 4.0 Leader by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
This new assembly line underscores Honeywell's dedication to supporting high-value job creation while delivering innovative technologies that align with sustainable practices. By expanding its manufacturing capabilities within the UAE, Honeywell strengthens its role as a key player in advancing industrial technology in the region.
