Crown Prince's Leadership Drives Historic Legal Transformation In Saudi Arabia
Walid Al-Samaani, the Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Saudi Bar Association (SBA) Board, commended the progress in Saudi Arabia's legal and legislative sectors. These advancements are part of Vision 2030, supported by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Al-Samaani spoke at the Saudi Lawyers Conference in Riyadh, organised by the SBA under the theme "Developments in the Lawyers and Legal Consultations Sector."
The conference highlighted significant changes in the Kingdom's legal sector, driven by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Al-Samaani noted that specialised legislation is a key focus area, with legal practice being a primary field undergoing transformation. The event underscored the importance of these developments for the future of legal services in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Samaani announced plans to automate the renewal process for legal practice licenses. This change aims to empower lawyers by completing renewals within 15 days of receiving a complete application. Such initiatives are designed to support lawyers' professional growth and streamline their practice.
In addition to license automation, there will be a comprehensive review and development of the legal system. This effort will be conducted in collaboration with the SBA to enhance reliance on legal practitioners and expand access to legal services. The goal is to align the legal framework with Saudi Arabia’s evolving societal needs.
The conference also focused on improving professional training and development within the legal sector. Enhancing these areas is crucial for increasing efficiency in the legal environment, which can positively impact business and investment climates in Saudi Arabia.
The ongoing legislative developments were a central theme at the conference, emphasising their role in shaping the future of Saudi Arabia's legal sector. These changes aim to create a more robust and responsive legal system that meets contemporary demands.
The efforts discussed at the conference reflect a commitment to empowering the legal profession while ensuring that it adapts to meet new challenges. By focusing on both legislative advancements and professional development, Saudi Arabia aims to foster a dynamic and effective legal environment.
