Heritage And Culinary Arts Zone Showcases Rich Diversity Of Saudi Cuisine At Food Festival
The Saudi Feast Food Festival returned for its fifth edition at King Saud University in Riyadh, from November 27 to December 2. The event kicked off with impressive momentum and a large crowd. A major highlight was the Heritage and Culinary Arts Zone, which captivated visitors with its vibrant setup that celebrated the rich diversity of Saudi cuisine.
Visitors were drawn to the 13 culinary stations within the zone, each representing a different region of Saudi Arabia. Many arrived early to savour traditional dishes prepared using age-old methods. Guests described this experience as "a deep dive into Saudi flavors," appreciating how live cooking demonstrations recreated the ambiance of traditional family kitchens.

Beyond the food stations, a heritage market attracted significant interest. Vendors showcased authentic Saudi products such as local honey, baked goods, olive oil, spices, dairy items, natural fragrances, Taif rose and jasmine, and handmade crafts from various regions. Families eagerly purchased these items as cultural souvenirs.
The festival's aim is to display the vastness of Saudi cuisine while highlighting new culinary innovations. It positions itself as a leading event in the Middle East and a global celebration of Saudi flavors. This year introduced a Thailand zone where Thai chefs presented signature dishes and unique ingredients.
Visitors praised the Culinary Arts Commission for modernizing Saudi food culture while preserving its roots. They noted the smooth organization and strong programming that elevated the Kingdom’s culinary scene both locally and globally. The variety of activities offered exceeded many attendees' expectations.
The festival also hosted the Gourmand Awards, gathering participants from over 80 countries to celebrate outstanding culinary books and food media worldwide. This addition further enhanced the festival's international appeal.
Chefs demonstrated time-honoured techniques in preparing dishes, offering visitors an intimate look at each recipe's heritage. This approach highlighted the depth and character of regional cuisines across Saudi Arabia.
The festival continues to grow in significance by showcasing not only traditional foods but also innovative culinary trends. Its comprehensive approach makes it a standout event for both locals and international visitors interested in exploring Saudi Arabia's rich culinary landscape.
