Healthpoint Partners With Operation Smile To Perform 19 Life-Changing Cleft Surgeries
Healthpoint, a member of the M42 group, collaborated with Operation Smile UAE to perform 19 surgeries on patients aged 6 months to 43 years with cleft lip and palate. This initiative was part of their seventh surgical programme together. Healthpoint's ongoing partnership with the charity aims to enhance health outcomes and bring smiles to those affected by cleft conditions.
Cleft lip and palate are gaps in the upper lip and mouth that form during fetal development. These conditions can lead to eating difficulties, speech problems, hearing issues, and dental complications. Globally, about 1 in every 700 children is born with a cleft condition, according to Operation Smile's data.

The charity estimates that five million people live with untreated cleft conditions in their operational regions. Healthpoint has been a key partner for Operation Smile UAE since 2020, treating over 95 patients at its advanced facility.
During the recent programme, patients from countries like Uzbekistan and the Philippines were evaluated by a multidisciplinary team of medical volunteers. This team included plastic surgeons, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, dentists, orthodontists, and speech therapists at Healthpoint's world-class facility.
Qualified patients underwent surgery at Healthpoint, which offered three operating theatres along with pre- and post-operative wards. Additional support services ensured patients received top-notch care throughout their treatment journey.
