Saudi Arabia's Health Transformation Report Shows Progress In Universal Healthcare Access For All Residents
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made notable strides in expanding healthcare access, as highlighted in the 2024 Health Sector Transformation Program report. This progress aligns with Vision 2030's goals to provide equitable and integrated healthcare for all residents. The report indicates that essential healthcare services now reach 97.4 percent of populated areas, a significant increase from 84 percent in 2019.
Efforts to expand healthcare facilities, mobile clinics, and digital health services have been instrumental in achieving this coverage. These initiatives ensure that care is accessible even in remote regions. Advanced technologies have also been adopted to enhance public health outcomes through various virtual services.

The Sehhaty app exemplifies the Kingdom's technological advancements, offering 49 healthcare services and supporting over 31 million users. In 2024 alone, it facilitated more than 51 million virtual consultations and appointments. Such innovations have improved healthcare delivery efficiency and addressed specialist availability gaps.
The Ministry of Health’s unified call center (937) plays a crucial role in providing medical consultations, e-prescriptions, appointment bookings, and other support services. Last year, the center handled over 10 million calls and achieved a satisfaction rate of 94 percent, reflecting public trust in its quality and responsiveness.
Several innovative initiatives have been introduced to improve accessibility, including virtual pharmaceutical consultations and remote inpatient visits. These efforts have benefited thousands across the Kingdom by supporting digital health transformation and ensuring timely healthcare access regardless of location or population density.
The adoption of advanced technologies has not only boosted efficiency but also fostered innovation across the sector. Virtual services connected to hospitals throughout the regions have significantly enhanced healthcare delivery.
Overall, these developments underscore Saudi Arabia's commitment to improving healthcare access for all its residents. The Kingdom continues to make significant progress toward achieving its Vision 2030 objectives by leveraging technology and expanding service availability.
